Breaking Down Again
05:44
|
|||
Let it read like I was making up for lost time with my letters
It may be that I've lost my weary mind now for the better
So let the sun shine
On what's yours and what was mine
With you around
I'm breaking down
With you around
I'm breaking down again
You can scatter me on the face of some wild and winding river
It won't taste that sweet since the best of our love tastes so bitter
so let your river flow, you will lay me low
With you around
I'm breaking down
with you around
I'm breaking down again
Since the last few years I've been building up my defences
Hollowing out my heart, numbing my brain and dulling my senses
So let your cannons roar
I want to feel some more
With you around
I'm breaking down
with you around
I'm breaking down again
With you around
I'm breaking down
With you around
I'm breaking down again

Somebody Else
06:38
|
|||
I'm leaving town without a suitcase
'cause I have had my fill
I left the light on in my hotel room
'cause I couldn't pay my bill
I'd do anything to get out of this place
I can only blame myself
when you fall this hard on the streets of love
you end up walking round like somebody else
I'm not saying I wont be missing you
but, my love, I can see this time we're through
Who I'll find, you know I just can't tell
but they'll probably be walking around
just like they're somebody else

Out Of Sight
07:36
|
|||
The time is gone
it's rolled on and over me.
The stores have closed
no window shows a light for me
I'm still waiting here
in the whirling colours of the night
and I'm trying to keep my heart out of sight
I've worked in sodden crypts
and recounted paper clips
to no avail
misdirection has deflected me
and made me my worst enemy
I'll trim my sails
I'm still waiting here
in the whirling colours of the night
and I'm trying to keep my heart out of sight
The time is gone
it's rolled on and over me.
The stores have closed
no window shows a light for me
I'm still waiting here
in the whirling colours of the night
and I'm trying to keep my heart out of sight

Bootlegger
04:26
|

My Daddy bootlegged whisky
ever since he left the city
oh the times could be risky
on the run
I remember in 1850
up in the black hills so misty
we were all sitting pretty
drinking rum
All those hard times
they go drifting by
on streams of liquor
and schemes
and those old men of the hills
I remember them still
gonna see them forever in my dreams
One time we boiled grass
and put it in a cask
it could put you on your arse
and you'd be hurting
If the coppers rolled past
we could break it down real fast
and be out on the path like we were workmen
All those hard times
they go drifting by
on streams of liquor
and schemes
and those old men of the hills
I remember them still
gonna see them forever in my dreams
Now Daddy's dead and gone
from bootlegging too long
making liquor that was strong
out in the pines
and though God might think it's wrong
I wont worry about it too long
'cause even his good old son was making wine
All those hard times
they go drifting by
on streams of liquor
and schemes
and those old men of the hills
I remember them still
gonna see them forever in my dreams
